Five Melbourne women in harmony with accordion, guitar and percussion.

    Bronwyn Calcutt

Bronwyn Calcutt -singer-songwriter and accordeonist -has come from a theatre background to the music scene, bringing a whimsical cabaret performance style and an incisive wit to her lyrics. She has won enthusiastic audiences at music festivals nationally as one of the Three Shielas with Judy Small and Kavisha Mazzella, as well as with her unique one-woman shows - Disenchantment and Piaf Sings Freud - that explored the labyrinthine facets of the feminine psyche. In Melbourne she directs two vibrant and experienced choirs -Shaking the Tree and Expressive Women, and has been Musical Director of the famous Kingfisher Festival for the last six years.

    Flip Case

Flip Case is a singer, performer, ensemble leader and teacher who grew up immersed in music, spending countless family car trips drowning out the sound of a vw engine with musical show tunes. Flip has performed as a backing vocalist for Elvis impersonators, in theatre in education with Vox Bandicoot and cut her teeth in a cappella cabaret with 5 Floors Up. She has been directing school, workplace and community vocal groups since 1997, currently teaching in two schools and leading three community choirs.

    Jen Hawley

She trained in classical guitar, studied jazz with Bruce Clarke and has been teaching for many years. During the last 5 years Jen has also made a name for herself as a guitar workshop tutor at community music events.

Jen now has diverse interests in jazz, folk and world music. She performs regularly at popular venues and festivals with Skirl and is also a member of other ensembles including Flirting Mazurkas, Great Chefs of Europe, Ruby and Ginger and Continental Drift..

    Melita Jansen

Melita has sung all her life – from the stairwells of the blocks of flats she grew up in – the classroom platforms – to the steps of the Shrine at midnight. She eventually landed a place in Melbourne band Bloom where she sang the songs of talented song writing team Barker/O’Callaghan – recording two albums, ’Adult Themes’ ’96, which won the 1997 Planet indie album of the year in Belgium. The cover, ‘Don’t know what to do with myself’, received airplay on JJJ and 3LO during the Bacharach/David revival in the late ‘90’s. The follow-up album, ’Smoke and Mirrors’, was released in ’98. Whilst studying music at NMIT, Melita met Jen Skate, one of her singing teachers, whom she now works along side in the band ‘Skirl’ – cabaret show band extraordinaire.

Mma and Nii Tettey Tetteh, worked in theatre in education with Vox Bandicoot and
